FEARLESS RONIN
Miyamoto Musashi, a renowned Japanese swordsman, philosopher, writer, and ronin, was born in the year 1584 in Harima Province and passed away on June 13, 1645.
My introduction to Miyamoto came through an episode of Joe Rogan's podcast on YouTube. During the episode, Joe recounted his experience of reading Miyamoto's book, "The Book of Five Rings," at the age of 16. In this book, he came across a profound quote: "Once you understand the way broadly, you can see it in all things." Joe went on to explain his interpretation of this quote, stating, "I believe that in all challenging endeavors, there exists an opportunity for personal development. These challenges help us tap into our full human potential and, in doing so, allow us to overcome our own obstacles by becoming proficient in various skills."
Upon hearing Joe's perspective and conducting my research on Miyamoto, I encountered another thought-provoking quote attributed to him: "The only reason a warrior is alive is to fight, and the only reason a warrior fights is to win." Reflecting upon this quote, it struck me that, in our own unique ways, we are all warriors engaged in battles. Some of us grapple with addictions, be it to drugs, alcohol, pornography, or smoking. Others confront financial hardships, family issues, mental and physical health challenges, or spiritual dilemmas. Despite the diverse nature of our battles, we share a common objective: to emerge victorious and conquer the challenges that lie before us.
Seek that warrior's mentality, live that warrior mentality and embrace it.
